About Us
Over a thousand years ago, intrepid seafarers journeyed from Iceland, relying on a remarkable tool called a “sólarsteinn”, or sunstone in English, to navigate the vast, cloud-covered ocean. This transparent stone, believed to reveal the sun’s position on overcast days, represented the cutting edge of technology, enabling them to reach new shores and explore the unknown.

Today, Sunstone Institute carries on that spirit of exploration, harnessing the power of modern technology to navigate the complex challenges facing humanity. These technological tools enable us to analyse vast amounts of data, uncover hidden patterns, and generate insights that were unimaginable just a few years ago.
As a philanthropically funded research institute based in Oslo, we are building a team of passionate data scientists driven to make a positive impact on the world.
In close cooperation with the RadicaLab Foundation, the Sunstone Institute will navigate the “unknown territories” of uncertainties using data, AI, and geospatial satellite information to gather information and present it to decision makers.
